Police: Fatal fire at Yonkers apartment started from heating lamp used to grow marijuana

Police say a fire at Yonkers apartment fire that killed a man started from a heating lamp used to grow marijuana plants.
Yonkers police say the six plants were being grown for personal use on the first floor.
Investigators say evidence found there shows that the the lamp likely fell to the floor and broke, sparking the fire.
Police say the person living there alerted his neighbors when he found out.
A 67-year-old man who is now known to be Michael Damiano died on the fourth floor, and over 30 firefighters were hurt
.About 65 people were sheltered in the Scotti Community Center as a result of the fire. Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano says the tragedy highlights the need for greater guidelines and regulations on growing legalized marijuana.
Yonkers police say the state hasn't issued regulations yet on home cultivation of cannabis.
