Police found 36 guns inside a Sloatsburg man?s home Sunday after deliverymen say the homeowner used one of the guns to threaten them.
According to police, 57-year-old Henry Kroll was getting a stove delivered to his home on Seven Lakes Drive Sunday. They say he demanded the old stove be unhooked from a gas line. The three deliverymen told him they weren?t allowed to do that, and the contractor went out to the truck to contact Sears. Authorities say this is when Kroll went back into the house, retrieved a semi-automatic pistol and brought it outside, threatening the deliverymen with it.
Ramapo police were called to the scene, where Kroll denied threatening the men, saying he had no guns. Police then entered the house and found the gun Kroll used to threaten the deliverymen ? and 35 others.
There were 21 handguns and 15 rifles inside Kroll?s house, police say. According to authorities, most of the firearms were unlicensed.
People who know Kroll say they didn?t expect this. ?I?m very surprised he would do that,? Jennifer Butler says. ?He came in [to my job] everyday. He?s never been violent or aggressive when he?s here so I?m shocked.?
Kroll was arrested and charged with weapons possession and menacing. He has been arraigned and is being held on $25,000 bail at the Rockland County Jail.
Police are tracking the handguns to determine how they ended up in Sloatsburg.
