Authorities say Stephen Buda was climbing the Trapps Bridge section of the
Mohonk Preserve when he fell.
The call for help came in around 5:30 p.m.
News 12 is told Buda was not wearing safety equipment when he fell from nearly
150 to 175 feet.
Buda was a firefighter in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The fire department acknowledged his death on
Facebook Tuesday.
According to the department, Buda
leaves behind a wife and two children.
