State police are investigating a possible noose-hanging incident at the Rockland Children?s Psychiatric Center.

The black chaplain at the center, Frank Souffrant, says he found a noose hanging on his office door last week. However, Wilbur Aldridge, head of the Rockland NAACP, says no one from the facility reported the incident to authorities. Aldridge says he is the one who called state police after hearing from an official inside the center that the incident occurred.

In a statement released to News 12 Hudson Valley, Souffrant said, ?I was in shock. My office is very isolated and I?m kind of alone in the area. I was a little scared.?

Police say since the alleged incident happened days before their investigation began, the evidence may have been tampered with. They say the probe into the alleged incident is considered active.
