What wasn?t said on police communication tapes has an injured Chester police officer and his attorney taking legal action against the department.

Officer Robert Ferrara was severely injured after a head-on collision during a high-speed chase in July. Ferrara blames the Chester Village Police Department for not communicating clearly and causing his accident.

Ferrara?s attorney says the radio tapes show many periods of silence rather than constant communication. He adds that Ferrara and other officers assisting during the chase were without communication at points when information was essential.

The Village of Chester?s attorney had no comment on the situation. The village has less than 60 days to investigate and respond.
