Political showdowns come to a head
? After months of campaigning and heated exchanges, candidates across the Hudson Valley will learn their political fate on Election Day.
As they did four years ago, voters will once again decide between incumbent Democrat Andy Spano and Republican challenger Rob Astorino for county executive. Westchester residents also have a choice of three candidates for district attorney; incumbent Democrat Janet DiFiore, Democratic challenger Tony Castro, who is running with the support of two minor party lines, and Republican challenger Dan Schorr.
Residents in Rockland and Orange counties will choose their county supervisors today. In Rockland, Republican incumbent Scott Vanderhoef is looking for his fifth term in office. He?s being challenged by Democrat Thom Kleiner. In Orange County, Republican incumbent Ed Diana is seeking a third term against Democrat Pat O'Dwyer.
