A father of three in Port Chester says he could be detained during a routine meeting as early as Thursday.
Noel Lopez-Reyes fled to the U.S. in 1992 in an effort to escape the Guatemalan civil war. His request for asylum at the time was not approved.
"I had no choice to live over there. The guerrillas told me they were going to do something to my father, to my family," says Lopez-Reyes.
Since then, he has checked in with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement consistently, and his deportation has been delayed. He recently learned that his request to delay deportation was denied.
Lopez-Reyes lives in Port Chester with his wife and son, who suffers from spina bifida, scoliosis and debilitating abnormalities.
"You can't imagine how difficult the situation is for me. It's difficult, but I put my faith in God's hand," says Delores Lopez-Reyes, Noel's wife.
Ariel Gould, of the Westchester Hispanic Coalition, is working on his case and says he is not a risk to anyone. He did, however, have a conviction for a DUI that occurred 20 years ago.
