With high school graduation right around the corner, seniors at Port Jervis High School are trying to cope with the loss of three classmates. On Friday, three teenage girls and one boy were driving along Interstate 84 in Deerpark when their car crossed the median and crashed into a tractor-trailer. Kathleen Decker, Sara Abramowitz and Stephanie Conklin were killed and the driver, junior Sean Donnelly, was injured. The girls received their caps and gowns and yearbooks Friday, hours before the fatal crash. The weekend would typically mark the official countdown to graduation. Instead, more than 500 people showed up at St. Mary's Church Sunday for a community prayer service. The Port Jervis High School Class of 2006 will hold its graduation ceremony June 23. Sadly, that day will not only be a day to honor those receiving their diplomas, but a day to remember those who could not.
