Port Jervis M.S. student killed in hunting accident
A 13-year-old Port Jervis Middle School student was shot and killed while hunting with his family on Thanksgiving in Sparrowbush.
According to state police, the accident occurred in the woods off Route 42. Officials say a family member shot 13-year-old David Kingston in the back while tracking a deer. The boy was transported to Bons Secours Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Teachers at Port Jervis Middle School were notified Thursday evening. On Monday morning, grief counselors were on hand for any student or faculty member who needed them.
Kingston was remembered during a wake over the weekend and a memorial service Monday. A wrestling scholarship is also being created in his honor.
