Poughkeepsie school district joins ‘Everyday Intervention’ program to crack down on absences
The Poughkeepsie City School District announced that it will participate in the “Everyday Intervention” program to crack down on student absences.
It will help monitor students’ attendance data which will send families reminders through mail and text messages until the student is no longer chronically absent.
The program is funded by a five-year, $2.5 million full-service community schools’ federal grant.
The district says more than 2,000 schools use the service nationwide and has helped prevent nearly 2 million absences.
