Power restored after 2 manhole explosions in Hartsdale

HARTSDALE - Power has been restored to Con Ed customers in Hartsdale after an underground explosion yesterday.

Repairs continued throughout the night at several apartment buildings along East Hartsdale Avenue after two manholes exploded around 2 p.m. The explosions were caused by an underground transformer fire.

Traffic along East Hartsdale Avenue was shut down for hours.

One resident told News 12 it "sounded like someone dropped a bomb." No injuries were reported.
