Price Chopper supermarkets issue potato salad recall
A food alert has been issued for a product sold at Price Chopper supermarkets.
The chain is voluntarily recalling its homestyle potato salad due to a possible listeria contamination. Price Chopper representatives say the salad is sold by the pound in their deli section.
The bacteria causes nausea, stomach problems and can spread to the nervous system.
A company spokesperson said only one container at an upstate New York store tested possible for listeria contamination. The recall will affect all Price Choppers. Company officials said they are using data from customers' loyalty cards to pinpoint people who may have purchased the potato salad, and alert them to the recall.
