Principal: Spitting incident at DC museum was not racially motivated

The principal of Shelton Intermediate School is defending her students following a spitting incident Friday at the National Museum of African American History & Culture in Washington, D.C.
During the field trip, a white student spit on a black visitor at the museum, resulting in several students getting thrown out.
Principal Dina Marks was with the students. She addressed the situation in a tweet:
“The incident involved a student spitting over a balcony. It allegedly hit a visitor, a person of color.  It was an act of stupidity, disinterest, and immaturity, completely inappropriate, but I believe, not racially motivated against that person.”
That tweet has since been deleted, along with Marks’ account.
