The family of a Newburgh man who died in police custody released results of an independent autopsy that places blame on the officers.

The first autopsy performed by the county on 25-year-old Nathaniel Cobbs blamed his death, in part, on drugs mixed with a heart condition. Cobbs? family members admit he had PCP and cocaine in his system when he died on July 8. However, they claim the second autopsy proves dog bite marks and Taser burns contributed to his death. An attorney for the Cobbs family says the autopsy report makes clear that he had a slightly enlarged heart, but that had nothing to do with his death.

Newburgh Police Chief Eric Paolilli says he stands by the actions of his officers that night. Police officials say they would like a medical expert to interpret the results of the second autopsy. The attorney for the Cobbs? family says they are going ahead with a lawsuit against the city.
