Some Tuxedo residents are outraged about a proposal to bring a Las Vegas-style casino to their quiet area.
Eighteen members from the community filed a lawsuit this week.
The 238-acre site zoned for the casino is in Sterling Forest State Park.
Residents are concerned the proposed casino will give off too much light, create too much noise and increase traffic.
Tuxedo approved a "gaming overlay district" last month, which basically allows the casino to be built on the land. But, attorney Michael Sussman says the town failed to do an environmental review.
An attorney for the town claims Tuxedo has met all applicable regulations and says the town will complete an intensive environmental review prior to a vote on the casino's development.
The state isn't expected to make any final decisions about the casino until sometime in the fall.
