Prosecutor: Man charged for killing mother, critically injuring father in Bridgewater

A 27-year-old Bridgewater man is facing charges for allegedly stabbing his mother to death, and critically injuring his father on Monday.
Michael Litwornia was charged with homicide and aggravated assault. He was arrested around 1 a.m. Tuesday after barricading himself inside his home for several hours.
Authorities say the stabbing happened just before 8:30 p.m. at a home on Washington Valley Road. Police say they came upon a 61-year-old man who was suffering from stab wounds and lacerations. The man told responding officers that his son attacked him and his wife, according to police.
Police say that responding officers also found a 61-year-old woman inside the home who was also suffering from multiple stab wounds. They were able to get her outside, but medical personnel pronounced her dead.
Litwornia allegedly barricaded himself inside the home and refused to speak with police. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, and the area around the home was closed to traffic.
Police say that after Litwornia refused to speak with them, they used a robot to find out where he was inside the home. Litwornia was apparently lying on a couch inside the home. Police say that when the SWAT team went inside the home, Litwornia tried to attack them with a sharp object but was subdued. Police say he had self-inflicted injuries on his body.
Litwornia’s father is said to be in critical condition at the hospital.
A motive for the attack was not immediately released.
