A squawk over PSEG Long Island's removal of an osprey nest to make power lines repairs has hatched a plan to relocate the birds' home.

Community members want it done quickly. Terry Flanagan says the birds have already started rebuilding their nest in the same spot.

"We'd like to see the pole replaced this week," Flanagan says. "Because if that pole had been taken out by a DUI last night, there would be a new pole there today."

The Department of Environmental Conservation says PSEG had to remove the nest in order to make repairs on arcing power lines -- which could have caused power outages and transformer fires.

"It was imperative to remove the nest before the birds laid eggs, had chicks and the nest caught fire," PSEG said in a statement. "We are in the process of securing a new location for the osprey."
