Flights home for Four Haitian students who attend Purchase College were canceled due to violent protests.
With all assignments complete, the group was supposed to fly back home to Haiti this weekend, but riots in response to the country's fuel price hike are keeping them in the United States.
The international students tell News 12 they haven't even been able to speak to their loved ones back home. They say while they will be first in line to travel back to Haiti, they are afraid to see what has become of their home.
"We’re scared because we don't know what the country will look like when we go back because on the TV we are seeing that a lot of things have collapsed and are burning,” says Tranquillin Ricardo, one of the four Haitian students studying film at Purchase College.
The four students have a flight scheduled to head back home this Thursday.  They all say their bags are packed in case an earlier flight becomes available.
