A three-alarm fire erupted in the early hours at 92 South Moger Ave., Mount Kisco, heavily damaging the Mast Brothers Chocolate manufacturing building.

The blaze, which ignited just before midnight, also impacted the attached cafe and market owned by Mast Brothers, resulting in smoke and water damage.

Initial reports indicate the fire originated in a storage area of the commercial building, and authorities currently do not suspect any foul play. Approximately 75 firefighters from neighboring departments collaborated to douse the flames, successfully limiting the damage to the ten thousand square foot structure.

As a precaution, residents in adjacent apartments were briefly evacuated, but no harm occurred, and they were soon able to return home.

Mast Brothers established their chocolate factory and market in Mount Kisco in 2019, shortly before the onset of COVID-19. The owners express their intent to rebuild.

Mount Kisco Assistant Fire Chief Matt Holis says crews will be on the scene for most of the day checking on hot spots and watching for flare-ups.

South Moger Avenue has since reopened, but officials recommend motorists steer clear of the area.
