Demonstrators gathered in Nyack Sunday to host a rally in response to the mass shootings in Ohio and Texas.
Volunteers with the group Students Demand Action and other organizations took part in the rally to honor the victims of gun violence and demanded common-sense gun reform.
Participants say they’re demanding action from their senators to pass a strong federal Red Flag bill and legislation to require background checks on all gun sales. They say they aren't calling to ban guns but they do believe reforms must be made to how easily guns are purchased by anyone.
Jadyn Turner, with Students Demand Action, says she first got involved in the group after losing her cousin in the Parkland shooting.
The three groups that participated in the Nyack rally, Everytown for Gun Safety, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, all share the same objective of achieving stronger gun legislation.
