Ramapo cop accused of sexual abuse fired
A Ramapo police officer has been fired from the force after the town board found him guilty of sexually abusing a woman during a disciplinary hearing Wednesday night.
Members of the Ramapo town board say an independent judge found Officer Andrew Dale guilty of 16 out of 23 counts of sexual abuse.
On Tuesday, Dale and prominent Monsey businessman Zalman Silber appeared before a Rockland County justice and were charged with sexual abuse and unauthorized practice of medicine.
According to the town board members, their hearing that resulted in Dale?s dismissal was separate from the criminal case.
"Judge Carey found proof well beyond the substantial evidence test determining that Dale committed the crime of sexual abuse,? says Ramapo Town Supervisor Chris St. Lawrence.
Dale?s criminal case is expected to be heard in Rockland County court in December.
