Ramapo officials set to enact storm tax relief
More than four months removed from tropical storms Irene and Lee, Town of Ramapo officials are preparing to become one of the first towns in New York to take advantage of statewide tax relief. Homeowners in the area of Longergan Drive in Suffern suffered from intense flooding, and are still trying to recover. Ramapo town officials are implementing a law that will allow residents who lost half or more of their properties to have their homes reassessed and their taxes dropped. The re-assessment would be based on the home value as of March 1, 2011.For more on the Town of Ramapo's storm relief tax plan, click on iO Extra on Channel 612.Officials tour flood-ravaged areas of Orange CountySuffern residents: FEMA dragging feet on hurricane aid
