The Town of Ramapo approved the construction of a four-story Jewish religious school and dormitory, raising concerns among neighbors.

The yeshiva will be built on 17 acres of Babcock Lane and will accommodate 80 boys between the ages of 13 and 16.

Town Attorney Michael Klein says Babcock Lane will be expanded to 24 feet, a width that will accommodate buses without taking away from surrounding properties. Klein also says an emergency access road will be built.

Congregation Khal Torath Chaim of Rockland, which owns the land, must obtain approvals from the building department, the health department and the state Department of Environmental Conservation before it can break ground.
