Recruits re-enlist at W. Point after 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' ruling
A former West Point recruit who was discharged from West Point under the 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy is now re-enlisting, along with many others, after a U.S. District Court judge ordered the military to stop enforcing the policy.
Judge Virginia Phillips made the ruling late Tuesday, denying the Obama administration's request for an emergency stay that would temporarily block her ruling.
Daniel Choi was discharged from the military academy following his admission that he is openly gay.
The federal government is still expected to appeal the judge's ruling, prompting many opponents of the policy to advise active-duty gay and lesbians to not reveal their sexual orientation just yet.
