A brief hold in place was called Thursday afternoon at the Northern Westchester BOCES campus in Yorktown after concerns that a student might have had a gun.
Police say it began when a Putnam Valley High School student said she saw a student sitting in a car holding what appeared to be a gun.
There was a delay in the report and by the time the school resource officer was advised, the student had left the campus.
State police and Yorktown police learned he took classes at BOCES in the afternoon. They found the student and learned the item he was holding was a water pistol and not a firearm.
All classes resumed as normal.
