A study released by the Empire Center for New York State Policy found that some of Rockland County's officials are the highest paid in the entire state.
The study shows that Clarkstown Police Chief Peter Noonan made more than $300,000 from 2009 to 2010, making him the highest paid official in New York.
The report also listed the top 20 highest-paid county and municipal workers in the state outside New York City, five of which work in Rockland County.
Ramapo Police Chief Peter Brower was listed as the third highest-paid official, making more than $290,000 from 2009 to 2010.
Some residents were outraged by the news, while others say they are willing to let it go since their neighborhood is generally a safe place to live.
