NYACK - The highest paid public workers are employed in Westchester County, according to a new report.

The nonprofit group Empire Center, which studies public policy, says Yonkers topped the list for having the highest average salary for its city employees, totaling more than $70,000.

The Town of Ramapo topped the list for the highest town salaries for both general employees and police and fire across the state.

The average salaries in the report did not include pensions, health insurance or other fringe benefits that can add up to another 40 percent.
