Five years after the 9/11 attacks, 8,000 rescue workers who risked there lives to save others are filing a suit. They say the city, state, and federal government did not protect them, and lied by claiming the World Trade Center air was safe to breathe.

On September 16, 2001 former EPA director, Christine Todd Whitman reassured residents of lower Manhattan the air and water in New York were safe. Now, five years later, a Mount Sinai Medical Center report found 70 percent of those who responded to 9/11 are now sick due to the toxic air in and around the area.

The government has yet to declare a public health disaster.
