Resident of Haverstraw adult home fighting for his life after stabbing
Police say a resident of a Haverstraw adult home is fighting for his life after being stabbed by another resident Tuesday.
According to police, 48-year-old Raymond Rivera was in an altercation with a staff member at the Green Hills Home for Adults. Investigators say one of the residents tried to help the staff member and was stabbed by Rivera. Police say the victim was taken to Nyack Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
Police caught up with the suspect in the parking lot of the home. People who live near the home say the residents are mentally challenged and the attack has them concerned. Police are waiting to charge Rivera until they know the outcome of the victim?s condition.
