Residents across the Hudson Valley did all they could Monday to stay warm both inside and outside.

Residents say they cranked the heat up inside their homes as well as in their cars to try and stay warm. One resident said as soon as you get out of the car, you just want to jump back in as quickly as possible. Some residents say the best thing to do is dress in layers. And so far, Rockland County's housing supervisor has received about two dozen reports regarding heating problems. The supervisor urged residents to call immediately if they have a problem.

The freezing temperatures have also suspended ferry service indefinitely between Haverstraw and Ossining. Metro-North says buses will be provided to connect customers to the Tarrytown station.
