Those who are not complying with COVID-19 regulations, like wearing masks in the Town of Ramapo, could be faced with a fine of up to $1,000.
The fine, which can be applied to people and businesses, is in response to rising COVID-19 cases in Rockland County.
On Thursday, News 12 tagged along with Ramapo Town Supervisor Michel Specht as he visited a supermarket in Monsey, keeping an eye on compliance.
"Every store has been in compliance. We are seeing managers of the stores are having customers wear masks as they come in, employees keeping on top of their customers as they're in the store and we're seeing a great level of cooperation. Very much improved than it was just a few weeks ago," he says.
No fines have been given out yet.
Specht says he has been checking area businesses a few days a week and plans to continue until case numbers drop.
