After a 15-year revitalization, downtown Main Street in Putnam has become a destination for dining, shopping, entertainment and art galleries.
In this week's Road Trip Close to Home, News 12 photojournalist Lori Golias takes viewers to this town that features a vintage feel and modern appeal.
Putnam was an old textile mill town back that later became the antique capital of New England.
Putnam is known as Connecticut's "quiet corner" because of its beautiful rolling hills peace and tranquility, but the town also features some bustling spots.
The Courthouse Bar and Grill features a menu that is more of an American style with steaks, chowder, seafood, sequestered sautés and popular appetizers.
At 85 Main, chefs utilize the freshest ingredients in the most creative possible way.
Main Street also features breweries, cafés, artisans, the theater at the Bradley Playhouse and musical spot the Stopping Ground.
Concerts in the park, Riverfire and First Fridays are just a few of the events Putnam hosts.
