Rockland Boulders hold 'Anti A-Rod' promotion

'A Night of Rods' is aimed at fans

'A Night of Rods' is aimed at fans who want performance enhancing drugs eliminated from baseball.

RAMAPO - In an effort to make sure fans know the Rockland Boulders are against steroids, the team held an "Anti A-Rod" event.

The Boulders held "A Night of Rods" tonight, a promotion for fans who want performance enhancing drugs eliminated from baseball.

Fans who attended today's game at Provident Park in Pomona received free pretzel rods, had a chance to win fishing rods, and fans who arrive in hot "rods" got to park for free.

"We're trying to bring some levity to a very serious situation. At the end of the day, the Rockland Boulders are definitely against steroids and definitely in favor of cleaning up the game. Even if it's tongue in cheek with the first 'Night of Rods,' [it] is something that we felt was important and that's why we went for it with the promotion," says Boulders President Ken Lehner.
