The race pits Rockland County Police Chief Louis Falco, the Democratic candidate, against retired Detective Sgt. Tim O'Neil, of Clarkstown, the Independent candidate, and retired NYPD Police Sgt. Matt Brennan, of New City, the Republican nominee. The candidates are running to replace longtime Republican Sheriff James Kralick. Falco and O'Neil both have had more than 30 years of experience with their respective police forces, and Brennan is currently working on the security staff at Indian Point.
