Rockland County held a tribute today to honor the 82 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks from the county.
Relatives and community members gathered together to pay their respects to the loved ones lost 10 years ago today.
Haverstraw native Joan Mahoney, who lost her cousin, Gregory, says the wounds are still open despite the passing of a decade of time.
"I hope people never forget," Mahoney says.
Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef attended the ceremony and spoke about honoring the heroes who died in the attacks and those who helped survivors.
At the ceremony's conclusion, there was a flyover and the chaplain of the Clarkstown Police Department delivered closing remarks.
