Rockland County remains under state of emergency after Irene
A state of emergency remains in effect in Rockland County until further notice after Hurricane Irene struck the area hard.
Officials say that some who defied a mandatory evacuation order in some areas had to be rescued by boat do to rising floodwaters on Sunday.
Some homes were hit so hard by the storm that they were shifted off their foundations. Officials say the homes that came off their foundations will likely have to be torn down.
