The floodwaters are receding and a state of emergency has been lifted after torrential rains that hit the Hudson Valley Thursday and were especially harmful in Rockland County.
County Executive Scott Vanderhoef said the flooding was the worst since tropical storm Floyd in 1999.
Highway flooding stranded several cars and water levels threatened the generators at Nyack Hospital. The Nyack High School graduation was also postponed until Friday and will be held indoors.
Areas in New City and Nanuet were also hit hard, but the water has receded.
