Rockland exec vetoes 2015 budget items
Rockland County's 2015 budget plan has been approved, but now the county executive is vetoing some items on the list.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day says he vetoed items he felt are unnecessary and frivolous taxpayer spending.
Several of the items vetoed are cuts to the sheriff's department totaling nearly $221,000.
The cuts would defund a captain's position and the mounted unit, although all the deputies employed under that unit would still remain on the books.
The cuts total roughly $700,000, which also included cuts to non-profits, and a number of entertainment groups.
