Rockland executive blames NY, NJ for slow response to storm
Rockland County Executive Ed Day says both the New York and New Jersey departments of transportation didn't respond fast enough to this storm, and he says that's got to change.
"If we're going to have a sub-32 [degrees] scenario here, they have to salt the heck out of these roads," says Day.
Rockland County saw 72 accidents and more than 200 disabled or abandoned cars during the wintry weather.
The New York State DOT responded by saying they pre-treated roadways. It said the combination of rush-hour traffic and the storm intensifying at the same time added to some complications.
