SUFFERN - High school students from Rockland County weighed in today about plans for the new Tappan Zee Bridge.

The students paired up with academics and professionals from various disciplines to discuss ways to develop mass transit in Rockland County, with a focus on creating a train station in Spring Valley.

The group also discussed how to provide train service for commuters across the new span and get people out of their cars.

"I want to see a community where we can start going away from cars and start using more rapid transit, like buses and trains, where we are not really relying on natural fuels as much," said Tappan Zee High School senior Lucas Michaels.
