Rockland lawmaker moves forward with 9/11 victims' remains legislation
Assemblyman Ryan Karben (D-Rockland) is moving forward with legislation that should bring peace to many families whose relatives perished on 9/11.
The remains of many 9/11 victims are buried with tons of trash at the Staten Island Fresh Kills landfill. This is the painful reality for victims? family members, particularly the Boscos of Valley Cottage. Karben?s bill calls for the remains, including those of the Bosco?s son, to be removed and eventually placed at a memorial site, not yet determined.
The legislation was just passed by the Assembly?s Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions earlier this week and the bill is now being reviewed by the State Assembly?s Ways and Means Committee.
The Boscos feel like everything has been out of their control since September 11, 2001. Now they just want a proper place to remember their son.
