Dozens of Rockland residents packed the Orangetown Town Hall Monday night to learn more about redistricting plans in the county that officials say are necessary in the wake of new census data.

Rockland will re-draw the lines for its 17 legislative districts once the 2010 census data is released next month. Last night's public forum was just one of many planned for throughout Rockland County, according to Orangetown Supervisor Paul Whalen.

"What they are trying to do is figure out where the boundaries will be by getting input from not only elected officials in the town, but residents in the town," Whalen said.

Forums are planned for today at Ramapo Town Hall in Suffern, and on Thursday at the RHO Building in Stony Point.
