Rockland police arrest 12 in countywide drug sting
Police in Rockland County say at least a dozen suspected drug dealers have been removed from the streets after a massive drug raid. The arrests were made this morning after a six-month investigation targeting prescription drugs, cocaine and heroin. Police from Clarkstown, Spring Valley, Haverstraw and the county's narcotics task force say the suspects ranged in age from 18 to 60 years old. "We want to send a message," says Sgt. Jeff Wanamaker, of the Clarkstown Police Department. "You come into the town of Clarkstown, you want to deal drugs, do drugs, we are proactively investigating, making arrests and cleaning up the town." Of the 12 arrests, police say two of the suspects were already in jail. They say there are still six outstanding warrants.
