Despite backlash from the Jewish community, a Rockland rabbi is defending his view that the state of Israel should be dismantled.
Rabbi Yisroel Dovid Weiss is a part of Neturei Karta, a Jewish group united against Zionism and Israel. Weiss contends God put the Jews in exile and only God can take them out of exile. Weiss was in the spotlight because he went to Iran last month for a meeting contending the Holocaust was a myth. Weiss says he acknowledges the Holocaust and says he went to Tehran to talk about the dismantling of the Jewish state.
Jews protested outside Weiss' headquarters on Saddle River Road in Monsey Sunday to get the rabbi out of the county. Others realize Weiss? belief is part of a tiny Jewish sect. Weiss claims he's been threatened by many, but says he will continue to preach his views.
