Rt. 59 in W. Nyack to undergo makeover
Rockland's busy Route 59 will undergo a major renovation aimed at reducing traffic congestion and stopping flooding.
Crews will be rebuilding bridges, adding traffic lanes and raising the pavement in front of the Palisades Center. The area is prone to flooding.
Some bridges, including those over Sickletown Road, Western Highway and the CSX railroad, will be elevated.
During construction, a part of Route 59 will be reduced from four to two lanes. The project is expected to be completed by 2011.
