NEW ROCHELLE - The father of two who was found unconscious on a street over the weekend in New Rochelle has been declared brain dead, and police still don't know what happened to him.

Ruben Lopez, 31, was found at the intersection of Alpha Place and Pelham Road Saturday morning, only a few blocks away from where he lives with his wife and two daughters. Police found him facedown and unconscious, bleeding from his head and ear.

Lopez's wife says he went to the store the night before with a man she didn't recognize and never came home.

She says the hospital staff is urging the family to take Lopez off life support, but the family has not signed anything yet because they don't have the money to bury him.
