One Bronx hospital is spreading the word about Prostate Awareness Month.

Saint Barnabas Hospital is raising awareness to prostate cancer, the second most common cancer among men in the world.

Dr. Ridwan Shabsigh, of Saint Barnabas Hospital, says nearly 240,000 men in the United States were diagnosed with prostate cancer last year, with 30,000 of them dying. He says that the symptoms for prostate cancer include, sudden urge to urinate, pain or burning while urinating and blood in the urine or semen.

Dr. Shabsigh also says that early detection of the cancer is most important so that it can be caught before it spreads throughout the body.

It is advised that all men over the age of 40 speak to their physician about getting a prostate check.

Saint Barnabas will be opening a men's health clinic October 1.
