The Monroe-Woodbury Central School District's school board president says the decision to fire Superintendent Ed Mehroff last week was justified.
"The decision was a board decision," says Monroe-Woodbury School Board President Eleni Kikiras-Carter. "It wasn't one person. It was the board coming together.
The ousted Mehroff said there was political motivation behind Carter seeking his termination in an interview last week with News 12.
Newly elected school board members voted Mehroff out 6-3. The school board won't say why, just that it was in the schools' best interest. Mehroff says he plans to appeal his firing.
Former Assistant Superintendent Elsie Rodriguez will serve as interim superintendent.
