Voters took to the polls Tuesday to have their say on school spending and in some cases who will fill some school board openings.
There was a small turnout at one point in Ridgeway Elementary School in White Plains, but those who did show up to vote on the school district's proposed $214 million budget said they were determined to have their voices heard. If approved, the 2017-2018 budget would pay for increased spending for athletics programs, expansion of fine arts programs, more money for special-needs students and extended STEM courses at the elementary and high school levels.
Parents who spoke to News 12 said they see it as a deciding vote for their children’s' future.
Two Board of Education seats are also being voted on in White Plains. Those elected will serve a three-year term, beginning July 1.
