Schumer opposes carry-on baggage fees
Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) visited the Westchester County Airport and Stewart Airport today to discuss his opposition to Spirit Airlines' plan to charge customers for carry-on items.
Schumer says that five major airlines have now said that they won't follow Spirit Airlines' move that would charge customers up to $45 for carry-on items that go in an overhead storage compartment.
The five airlines that say they will not add such a fee are American, Delta, JetBlue, United and US Air.
Schumer is trying to push a bill in Washington that would tax any airlines that institute a fee for carry-on items.
